The five-minute breakfast most of our customers tell us about. Maple syrup in the pot, not just on top, so it cooks into the oats.
Ingredients, for two
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup milk and 1 cup water
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons Skarda pure maple syrup, plus more for the top
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- To finish: sliced banana, toasted pecans, a spoon of maple crumble, a pat of butter
Method
- Bring the milk, water and salt to a simmer. Stir in the oats and cinnamon.
- Cook 5 minutes over medium-low, stirring now and then, until creamy. Stir in the maple syrup in the last minute.
- Bowl it up, top it, and pour a little more syrup over the top.
Notes
- Overnight version: same amounts, no cooking. Mix in a jar, refrigerate, eat cold or warm it in the morning.
- Maple crumble on top gives you the crunch that brown sugar never did.
